XXVI
TOO MUCH is happening in this spring. Too many aspirations and limitless claims, too many swelling, unrestrained ambitions distend these dark depths. Its expansion knows no bounds. The administration of this enormous, branching and overgrown venture is beyond my strength. I have appointed Rudolf co-regent, with the intention of placing part of the burden onto him — anonymously, naturally. He and I, together with his stamp album, constitute the unofficial triumvirate on whose sholders the burden of responsibility lies for this entire unfathomable and inconceivable affair.
